I think I have a temp job at my current employer lined up so I will have some income during my first semesters in school! However, now I am realizing that I am going to be much busier in two months than I am right now and I need to take advantage of my slow time to get things done. Now if I can just remember what are those things I’ve been wanting to do. Aside from reading books, walking Miles, and cleaning, I haven’t accomplished all that much at home. Some of the things I would like to do, if I have the time, include:

buy a guitar and learn some chords (I hope to get Adam to help me pick one out when he is here in a couple of weeks)

do some overnight hikes and maybe try to camp with Miles

figure out if there is some sort of volunteer work I can regularly do during school

meet some of my neighbors…we’ve lived here 3 years and know no one

learn how to use illustrator or photoshop for real

finish reading Chess for Juniors with a chess board in front of me

I better stop with the list because it will depress me if I have a bunch of stuff on it that I can’t accomplish. What would/are you do/doing with your free time?

I can’t wake up this afternoon. I think it has something to do with fasting until 2:30pm for my physical. THEN my doctor recommended that I ease off the coffee (and/or spicy foods & bike riding which I said would be impossible…I will let you can google my “condition” on your own) so now I don’t have a way to get over the 3-5pm hump…or the 6pm…or the 7pm. I also need to exercise more (I gained 8 pounds in the last six months which pushed my BMI to 24.2), do my feet exercises, have two moles removed, eat less fried food and/or drink a glass of red wine a day. However, I just don’t think the red wine is going to wake me up in the morning like my coffee. At least there is always tea!

I haven’t been writing much in my blog the past week but I have good excuses, for real. We’ve been enjoying our week hosting Mainers and hanging with Middletowners. We’ve ice skated, skateboard shopped, pancaked, locopoped, and Scrabbled. I hope to get some more photos and descriptions posted but if you search around my links, you will likely find others doing a better job posting about the past week. Tomorrow we head to Baltimore for the weekend for a dog reunion!

Since Susie Cupcakes asked, here is a list for y’all:
What I am drinking: Unsweet Tea and water (it is in the 90s here). Oh, and a lot of coffee (going to work meetings also gets me hooked back on the more than 2 cups a day habit since it is sitting out there on those break tables, waiting to be consumed).
What I am watching: We (including the Mainers) are currently (re)addicted to Arrested Development. However, we were stymied in our quest to watch because none of the local VisArts had Disc 2, Season 1 yesterday. We also watched the History Detectives but I got lost somewhere on the Chisom Trail and the first episode of the season couldn’t hold my interest.
What I am reading: A Prayer for Owen Meany, John Irving (passed along to me from a waspy New England friend), Fun Home by Alison Bechdel (a graphic novel memoir– fascinating and a very quick, engrossing read), and–if you really want to know–The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable by Patrick Lencioni (I read this one for my work retreat…you may like it if you like books that have numbers in the title like 7 habits of, 8 ways for, 12 steps to, etc).
