lack of attention

I am trying to be good and read my readings before tomorrow night…but I forgot how dense academic writing can be. I need some strategies to get through, understand, and react to this writing. Any suggestions? I think I may move my study place from WSM to the library for starters. I’ve always studied well at the library. I’ve also slept well there too.

I recommend caffeinated beverages and vertical reading positions along with frequent short breaks & adequate physical exercise…..but if that is a representative sample, better make that a triple espresso !

I think it helps to find a really interesting coffee shop that you enjoy being in and aren’t in a hurry to leave. Convince yourself that whatever you’re reading looks really cool and that everyone is thinking about how cool you must be. Believe that someone might come up and ask you about the fascinating reading and be prepared to discuss it in depth. You wouldn’t want to embarass yourself!!!

I think I remember asking you what you were reading and you said, “The Stranger…in French.” You should see our local coffee shop on a Sunday afternoon…there are dozens of hipsters “studying.”
