Block Island (in the ’80s)

I think this is the day we lost some kites in the Atlantic Ocean. My recent kite is similar but not as good as the one I am holding in the photo (which was Adam’s box kite).

is that a katonah day camp t-shirt you’re wearing? if not, they were just like that, pinkish ringer tees with darker neck and sleeve rings.

Yes, I am sure that is one of the Katonah shirts. I loved them but they were always too big for me!

I would like to thank you for allowing the person responsible for the lost kites to remain anonymous.
My memory is that I was told that the kites would end up with some other grateful kids in Rhode Island, not in the Atlantic Ocean.

It is funny, I can still picture the little triangles blowing away. I remember being told that they were flying off to R.I. but thinking back, I could swear they flew out to the east of the lighthouse.

As I recall, the triangle kites, set free, flew east, no doubt making their way to France, where they became the inspiration for the famous French children’s parable, “Le Cerf-Volant Polygone”, mai oui? xox tante
