Bad news round up #2…
I don’t know what to think about the latest Floyd Landis allegations. It makes me angry on so many levels (it spoils the victory if it is true or not now that it is news).
Then I read about the dancing man in Carrboro being forced to stop dancing on the Weaver Street Market lawn?! His dancing is definitely not my style but he is a part of what makes Carrboro Carrboro. Plus he has a great story– going from robbing banks to dancing at WSM! If they stop the hooping, I am going to protest! I always thought the one rule was no six packs on the lawn…oh, and you’re not supposed to eat the birds.

  • these ARE sad stories. i don’t know which is worse…

  • WTF? I think the Weave needs to step up. No comment? What about this from their web site?

“Weaver Street Market loves to see people enjoying our lawn and connecting with their community.”

AND they’re gonna go after the Hoopers™ next?

With apologies to Pastor Martin Niemoeller, who wrote the original text…

“They first came for the Dancing Man
    and I didn’t speak up–
    because I wasn’t a Dancing Man.

Then they came for the Hoopers
    and I didn’t speak up–
    because I wasn’t a Hooper.

Then they came for the dirty hippies and I didn’t speak up–
    because I wasn’t a dirty hippy.

Then they came for the yuppies
    and I didn’t speak up–
    because I wasn’t a yuppie.

    Then they came for me–
and by that time no one
    was left to speak up.”

Do the right thing Weaver Street! Fight for your right to party on the lawn! Or at least get that man an official Carr Mill Mall dancing permit!
