Plus I talked to folks who built a house in the country and it sounds like who your builder is determines how easily you get your CO and other permits from the county. The easiest solution would be to find a house for sale and maybe just make the changes to fit what we are looking for. Aside from the modern stuff, I really just want a nice, private backyard and a screened in porch! Yeah, it may be cheaper to just go through a regular builder (as low as $100 sq/foot around here).
